Private Investigators handle some high profile cases and some cases that only a few would ever be interested in. It’s the later, the low profile cases, that really pay the bills. There are some cases you never have to leave the office for and unfortunately you don't get a paycheck, but they are just as rewarding as the biggest cases with the biggest paychecks an investigator will handle. Here is one such case from an investigator…. "A few years ago, I was sitting at my desk in the office one afternoon working on a report for one of my latest domestic investigations when the phone rang. “Triple Z Investigations how can I help you?” I said using my most professional sounding voice. One day I would get a secretary, maybe one day. “Are you an investigator? I need to talk to an investigator right away. Someone stole my dog!!!” said a young boy, “When I got home he was gone.” He started crying. “Yep, I’m an Investigator, I need you to answer a question for me”, I said in the most serious private investigator voice I could muster, “Hmmm...were any of the doors to your house open when you got home?” I asked. “No. They are all closed. I can’t find him” he was choking up trying to stifle his crying. “What’s your dog's name?”, I said trying to distract him from crying. “Bradford”, he was crying now, unable to hold back the tears. “What is your name?” I was trying to be as calm as I could. “John” (Real name withheld to protect the identity of my client.) “Ok John, here is what I want you to do. Listen to me carefully, this is really important. Are you listening?” I wanted to get his full attention. “Uh hunh” sniffle, sniffle “Ok, I want you to walk through the house and when you find a door to a room that is closed, I want you to open it and yell, “Bradford”, ok?” “Ok”, his crying seemed to ease as he concentrated on what I told him to do. For a few minutes I could hear him opening doors and yelling “Bradford”. He seemed to be focusing on what I told him to do as his crying seemed to have stopped. I admit, with each door opening I was getting a little worried that he wouldn't find Bradford. Then, yep, you guessed it… I heard a door open, then John yelled, “Bradford!!!!” “Ruff, Ruff” said Bradford (I assume). “Thanks!!!”, said John, “You’re a great investigator!” Of course I am! Case solved and I never left the office. What a great day!" The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles has provides a web page with links to all US DMV's.
