Do i have to be a computer expert to take the course online?
If you can surf the Internet using Google Chrome or Firefox then you can complete the course. If you encounter a problem, our techs will respond within 24 hours. Unfortunately, our techs are very bored. The online learning management system we utilize is simple. You navigate from one unit to the next, in proper order. It allows you to review or repeat a section, and provides real time feedback through periodic knowledge checks to gauge your learning, grasp of the content with a few clicks of the mouse and a few key strokes at times.
What are the requirements to become a Georgia private investigator?
In Georgia, Private Detectives (Investigators) must be licensed by the State Board of Private Detective and Security Agencies.
Among the basic background and statutory requirements, only those with the following will be considered for licensure:
2 years prior licensed as a private investigator (apprenticeship)
Or
2 years experience as a law enforcement officer
Or
4 year criminal justice (or closely related) degree

Yes, it exceeds the state requirement as it offers 80 hours of instruction, and is taught and facilitated by a State board certified instructor.
is there a difference between private investigator and private detective in georgia?
There is no difference, however in Georgia; the State statute for the license refers to this industry as a “Private Detective” instead of “investigator”. It’s a just a matter of terminology.
will i be a private investigator when i finish the course?
You must apply to the Georgia Board of Private Detective & Security Agencies to register as a private investigator. This course satisfies the training requirement.
what is the difference between a "registered" and "licensed" private investigator in georgia?
- A registered private investigator (detective) is one that works under the guidance of a licensed investigator in this state. He or she is an employee that is registered with the company directly and during that term satisfies the 2 year statutory requirement for applying for licensure.
- A licensed private investigator (detective) is the company owner, it is ONE individual that has met and passed all state requirements. The licensed investigator can hire as many registered private investigators under them as needed.
